For the month of October, we received a bevvy of cool samples. We weren't disappointed with them in the least.

Here's a sampling of some of the products that we received:

KESU by TSI-LA - this is a beautiful fragrance that can be used by a man or woman. I usually don't like warm and woodsy scents, but this one managed to capture my attention. It has notes of warm amber and precious rare woods, which are combined with smokey incense to give it a seductive and mysterious base. It's also layered with narcotic jasmine petals, davana, exotic spices, and fresh lime.

Vapour Beauty's Aura Multi-Use Blush in Spark - I was pleasantly surprised to get a full size product (a $28 value), because I love their products! However, I never tried out their blush until now. I like it much better than the blush that I was using, because this one looks more natural.

Holly Beth's Eye Cream - We have worked with this company in the past, but never reviewed any of their products before. I can't vouch on the effectiveness since I haven't used this eye cream for long, but I really like that it doesn't sting or burn like most eye creams do. It's a bit oily. Therefore, a little bit goes a long way if you want to avoid the oiliness.

Collective Wellbeing Corrective Cleanser in Oatmeal/Raspberry- I never heard of this company prior to this, but this is a really good cleanser! It provides soothing relief for irritable skin. My skin is very sensitive and breaks out easily. I've realized that not cleansers are good for my skin. Therefore, I have to be very careful about what I use on my face. So, it's a relief to find good products like this!

Scrubz Body Scrub in Citrus Burst - I'm shamelessly addicted to using body scrubs. Not all scrubs are the same, though. I have used really good ones, and I have used ones that weren't so good. Luckily, this one is really good! I received a good-sized sample of this product. I'm tempted to buy another once I run out. Not only it pampers my skin to perfection, but it also has a really beautiful fragrance. While the citrus is detectible, it smells more floral, which I really love!

Sacred Rose recently sent me three different kinds to try out, which included their Clearing Tea, Inner Peace Tea, and Morning Blossom Tea ($18 for Each).

Morning Blossom® - I love starting my morning with this tea since it instantly perks me up. It is also a wonderful tea to drink to pull me out of a mid-day funk. This is due to the invigorating blend of peppermint, spearmint, rose, ginger and alfalfa that encourages motivation and joyful experiences. This tea even has miniature rosebuds, which makes it really beautiful and unique. I like that the peppermint and spearmint taste is not strongly evident since anything minty usually gives me a headache.

Clearing Tea® - I usually drink this tea in the late afternoon or evening, the times I am usually feeling a bit stressed out and/or overwhelmed. I think it tremendously helps me, because I feel less stressed out whenever I drink it. The robust blend of black walnut bark, taheebo, spearmint, sage and rose hip works vigorously at purging stress and uprooting trauma. It also has a highly effective anti-parasitic agent working to cleanse the physical and emotional body of toxic debris. On the physical level, it detoxifies the colon. On a mental level, it diminishes unwanted thoughts.

Inner Peace® - This is another great tea for me to drink whenever I'm feeling stressed out and/or overwhelmed. It has a relaxing medley of chamomile, sage and passion flower that assists the emotional and physical bodies to calm. It also settles an upset stomach.

However, if your loose leaf tea has a lot of big pieces, you might want to go for a Libre tea glass instead since this tea infuser is a bit small. It's very pretty though and makes tea drinking an even more beautiful experience!

I'm not too fond of sweets, but I do get a craving for chocolate every now and then. Thanks to Oliver Kita Fine Confections , I was able to get my recent chocolate fix with their Studio Collection ($22.75 - $72). Mine included a 16 piece bon bon tour of their most popular and jewel-like creations. I honestly never had any kind of chocolate like this before. Each piece was a work of art and scrumptious. My top favorites were the White Peaches and Cream, Lavandre Citronade, and Espresso Double Shot.

Green fibers are the way of the future, and they will keep pushing its quality forward with innovative and modern designs that perfectly reflect our place and time on this wonderful planet.

You can easily strike up a band and let the good times roll with this cabaret inspired dress. The Orchid Dress is surprisingly soft and comfortable. The stretchable fabric (53% Soy, 44% Organic Cotton, and 3% Spandex) is forgiving and makes me feel like a million bucks! The dress features bold vertical corset-style seams for a trimmer silhouette. It's currently available in 7 different colors. I received the dress in the same color that's shown on the model, which is very beautiful! I wouldn't mind buying a couple more in Olive and Black since these are my favorite colors to wear when it comes to clothing.

I'm very fond of wearing dresses (have a closet full of them!), but I hadn't worn a mini skirt for ages until I received the Sublime Skirt. It's available in three 3 different colors, but I received the same one shown in the picture above. It's fun and sassy with a slight rocker edge. I wish I could find the same knee high socks that the model is wearing! However, it looks equally appealing with my DKNY Animal Tulle Tights ($15) and camel colored booties by Schutz that I received from Gilt Groupe. It would also look great with their Zen Tee!

When I wear any type of pants, it's usually jeans for me. However, I couldn't quite get over the look of the Fusion Pants. So cute and classy! They're available in 3 different colors, but I opted for the Black since it goes perfectly with just about anything. They feature embellished decorative belt and two round, sewn-under pockets on the bum. My only problem is that the pants are a bit too long for my petite height. Therefore, heels are a must for me! Trying pairing it with their Vintage Tank for a unique look.

12 Tips to Save Kilowatts and Cash

Consumers across America are experiencing sticker shock with this month's electrical bill. While kilowatt rates vary by vendor, a new national increase is being seen across the country.

With the enactment of the Clear Air Interstate Rule from the Environmental Protection Agency, 31 states are required to substantially reduce power-plant emissions. Specifically, power plants must reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by a whopping 71 percent and nitrogen oxide emissions by 52 percent.

Coal is both the most common energy source and the primary cause of both emissions. As a result, this new regulation is expected to cost coal power plants billions of dollars for retrofitting or in facility replacements. Naturally, this expense is being passed on to consumers. Short of going "off the grid," what's a customer to do? Here are 12 tips to help reduce your kilowatt usage.

1. Go Window Shopping

When the weather hits over 90 degrees and it's too hot to be outdoors, leave your credit card at home and head to an air-conditioned mall. After a few laps around the perimeter, you'll have gotten some exercise while catching up on the latest fashions.

2. Get Out of the House

Turn off the air conditioning, the TV and all those electricity hogs and enjoy some time in the great outdoors. If your kids spend their summer vacations playing video games, they're sucking up a lot of energy without expending any of their own. Sign them up for sports leagues, summer camps and other activities outside the home. While you may have to pay a registration fee, you can still save on equipment by using Target and Sports Authority discount gift cards ordered.

3. Turn Off Power Strips

Even if you've turned off the television, computer and other power vampires, those power strips are still sucking you dry. The same goes for rechargers, which may seem benign when not hooked up to your cell phone. The fact is, they're still drawing electricity when not in use, so flip that switch. According to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the standby power of unused appliances usually accounts for 5 percent to 10 percent of residential electricity costs.

4. Power Down Computers

Running a computer and monitor 24/7 uses about 1,100 kilowatt hours annually, or roughly $100 a year. Save 60 percent to 80 percent by putting your computer in power-saving mode or turning it off completely.

5. Use Powerless Cleaning Appliances

Use an old-fashioned can opener instead of that space-hogging electrical opener to reduce kilowatt usage. Clean rugs with a carpet sweeper instead of a vacuum. (You can find these old-fashioned cleaners at a surprising number of garage sales.) Dry laundry on a clothes line or rack instead of a power-hungry dryer. (Washers and dryers are 19 percent of your energy bill.) In general, consider how you can replace miniature power users with powerless appliances.

6. Shut the Curtains

Turn off or turn down an air conditioner by keeping windows covered during the day. You'll minimize sun exposure while maximizing the cooler night air.

7. Wash Dishes in Batches

It may seem hand-washing dishes would reduce both your water and electrical bill, but Energy Star appliances are actually much better for your family finances. The original investment, however, is terribly high. As a simple fix, wait until the dishwasher is completely full before running it. Avoid filling the machine with over-sized pots and pans as they're cheaper to wash by hand. Keep in mind that dishwashers compose 2 percent of your electrical bill.

8. Lower the Lighting Bill
You've heard lots of talk about CFL light bulbs and there's a reason why. CFLs are cheaper to run, generate less heat and last much longer. Switching out just one incandescent bulb for a CFL will save you $35 in energy costs - or up to 65 percent -- over the projected 10-year life of the bulb.

9. Turn Off the Stove

Pasta, veggies and other foods cooked in water will continue to cook once the water is boiled. Turn the burner off half way through the cooking process and you'll reduce your energy use; just make sure you leave on the lid to hold in the heat.
10. Fill Up Your Freezer and Fridge
As with your dishwasher, these kitchen appliances operate more efficiently when full. You needn't overbuy at the supermarket, however. Instead, fill bottles and milk containers with water to take up the extra space.

11. Use a Programmable Thermostat

Give your air conditioning system a break when no one is in the house. According to Energy Star, increasing a house's temperature during these hours by pre-programming a thermostat cuts the average household's electric bill by $180 a year. That's because heating and cooling systems are 45 percent of your monthly energy bill.

12. Clean A/C Filters

Filters clog up with pollen, animal hair, dust and other unmentionables. Cleaning or replacing your filter improves efficiency. You'll want to clean it more often if you have pets or are experiencing a particularly heavy pollen season.

It's much, much better than the body scrub that I reviewed recently even though that one is good and unique. However, this buffs away the dead skin cells and banishes dryness much better. It's very good sensitive skin, though. It is not abrasive at all, which I think is very unnecessary for a body scrub. Another good thing is that it isn't greasy in the least.

Body Wash - Their coconut based body wash is super moisturizing! It's very foamy, but it doesn't contain harsh detergents that can strip, irritate, or dehydrate the skin. It also doesn't contain artificial fragrances, chemical preservatives, or any other toxins that could pose a threat to your body. If I made bath products, this is exactly how I'd want my bath products to be. It's highly nourishing for the skin and the pure, high quality ingredients makes it even better!

I'm not too keen on most hair oil out there, because I've tried plenty of different brands that were greasy enough to knock up a batch french fries. This is why I was a bit leery about using the Suki Organic Hair Conditioning Oil ($32.95) since it was a brand that I heard of yet didn't have any experience with.

This hair oil is very light. My hair doesn't require much of it since as a little goes very far. I've found out that it works to the best of it's ability when I apply it on before hopping into the shower. It soaks in much better that way. Then, I wait until my shower is about over and start shampooing my hair. That way my hair has had enough time to reap the benefits from this oil.

This hair oil can also be used as a treatment for dry scalp issues such as eczema, dermatitis, and dandruff. It can also be used as a leave-in conditioner or shine serum. The jojoba oil, neem, and rosemary extract are much more effective at treating dry and/or damaged hair than mineral and sunflower oil. The jojoba oil base tones follicles and organic rosemary extract stimulates hair growth and circulation. Organic lavender extract soothes the scalp, while neem extract conditions. Split ends and flyaways are smoothed and irritation is calmed. This hair treatment is vegan and safe for chemically and color-treated hair.

I've tried many eyelash conditioners since I have started this blog, but it has been quite awhile since I've featured a review on one. I recently came across one that I really liked. I chose to not review the one I received prior to this since I had a terrible experience. I'm referring to a company called RevitaLash in case you're wondering. I have read esteemed reviews regarding that company. Therefore, I can't but wonder if I came across a bad batch. Maybe not since you can't go by everything you read on the internet, unless you've had first hand experience.

The Padina Eyelash Conditioner ($120) is a bit different than the eyelash conditioners I've tried in the past. It's made with a total of 23 different herbal extracts sans the harsh chemicals found in most eyelash conditioners on the market. You might want to refer to this link link since many brands are known to cause serious risks.

The herbal plants in the Padina Eyelash Conditioner contain the exact proteins that each eyelash is composed of in order to give your eyelashes the same building materials for growth enhancement and volume. My Thoughts:

I'm uber picky about what I apply around my eyes since my eyes are very sensitive due to photophobia, which means light sensitivity. However, I think it contributes sensitivity to other things. Therefore, I was a bit leery about trying this new product out since I didn't hear too much about it prior to my experience. Since it doesn't have the chemical muck that most eyelash conditioners are known to have, my curiosity got ahold of me.

I haven't had a such a good experience with an organic eyelash conditioner since Lash Mantra. I used product faithfully every night as recommended (no need to do it morning and night to achieve results) and I started noticing a slight difference in the third week. They were noticeably longer after 6 weeks. I like that I didn't even feel the slightest sting when I accidentally got some product in one of my eyes. This was enough for me know that they stand by their word when they say that they only use natural ingredients in their products. In case you have never used an eyelash conditioner, it's very easy to use since you apply it like you would with a liquid eyeliner. After desire results are achieved, you can this eyelash conditioner every two to three days to maintain the results.

I received the Loch Ness Mystery, which is an alluring azure hue that exudes a mysterious charm. They promise on the the site that it takes within 3 minutes for their nail polish to try, but it seemingly took a little bit longer than that. It was well worth the wait! I just love the fact that there's no need for a basecoat or topcoat, because this saves a lot of time and money. I also like that their nail polish doesn't chip easily. However, you can peel it off just like that, excluding the need for a nail polish remover.

Their polishes have a longer shelf life than other water-based products. They contain any of the chemicals found in typical nail polish: toluene, dibutyl phthelate, formaldehyde, acetone, and heavy metals. Scotch Naturals WaterColors have been tested by Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database and recieved a ranking of 1, making them the safest polishes on the market. With all of this said, it's well worth $15!

Good Morning Sunshine Recipe:

Ingredients

2 ecoVegan Sunshine Patties

2 bagels

1 tomato, sliced

Lettuces, ketchup, & virgin olive oil salad dressing, to taste

Preparations

Cut the bagels in half and toast them (or heat them up in a pan)

Pan-fry the Sunshine Patties over medium heat until warm (or microwave for 1 ½ minutes)

Spread the olive oil salad dressing on half of the bagel; add lettuces, 1 Sunshine Pattie, tomato slices, and add ketchup, to taste

Top over with the other half of the bagel and serve

Tantalizing scents of Coconut and Lemon makes it quite tempting! Most importantly, this scrub rejuvenates the skin by gently sloughing off dead skin cells and leaving it soft and smooth.

Note: Use during bath or shower. Massage onto moist skin with hands or luffah, rinse with warm water. Coconut oil may harden if kept in cool temperature, will melt on contact with skin. Use once or twice weekly. Best used prior to shaving.

I'm usually not particularly fond of body balms, because most of the ones I tried before leave an icky, greasy feeling. That isn't the case at all with theirs! It makes my skin feel soft, smooth, and hydrated without a tinge of greasiness. I love that it also has a soothing and earthy scent. This has been my go-to product during this season. This body balm was even featured in Everyday with Rachael Ray!

Skinsensual is a sensational body and massage oil that is great at relaxing sore muscles and hydrating the skin. It is free from synthetic ingredients and potential allergy causing nut oils. This body oil contains pure, therapeutic grade Apricot Kernel Oil which is safe and gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin. I love using it after I take a shower. It makes my skin feel soft and supple.

Overall, this is a great kit to have to get through the winter!

Suntegrity Skincare was made in memory of the founder's mom and all of those who lost their lives to skin cancer. Using her mom’s experience as a positive catalyst for change, she created a holistic, mineral sun care line to help people avoid skin cancer.

After losing her mom to melanoma skin cancer, she became a big advocate of wearing sunscreen. However, most of the sunscreens on the market use chemical UV blockers and contain a lot of toxic ingredients. It didn’t make sense to her to use these types of sunscreens to prevent skin cancer only to get another kind of cancer.

Soy candles are much better for our health and environment than traditional paraffin candles. Soy candles do not emit the soot. Not only do paraffin candles leave black residue on the containers they were burned in, but prolonged use of these candles can stain your walls, ceilings, curtains or blinds, and even carpets or rugs. My Thoughts: I received a Set of 2 Glass Candles in the scents of my choice, Bergamot and Fruit Explosion. With 75 hours of burning time, these slow-burning candles are a steal if bought as a set since you save save 17%. They also offer 20 different tantalizing fragrances such as Orange Vanilla, Rose, Ginger Lemongrass, Gardenia, Mint, Ginger Sandalwood, Spice, Midnight Fig, etc. I love both scents, because they are both uplifting and livens up the atmosphere. The Fruit Explosion has a beach-ready blend of mango, pineapple, peach, and coconut. You can mentally picture yourself basking in the sun, while sipping on a fruity concoction. The Bergamot is a refreshing and crispy scent of citrus that will drive away the ho-hum winter blues. I'm certainly no stranger to Bergamot since it is used in one of my favorite teas, Earl Grey.

Botanical Shampoo and Botanical Shine conditioners compose Liz Earle's first ever haircare range. Using 15 years of botanical expertise, they have created a unique plant-based shampoo that suits all hair and scalp types and 3 performance driven creamy conditioners, each designed to suit specific hair types.

I don't always have a good experience with every shampoo out there, especially the ones that claim to be for all hair types, but I love the Botanical Shine Shampoo ($7.50 - $14.50). With an earthy scent, this shampoo is probably one of the best smelling shampoos I've tried so far. While it doesn't rank as the best shampoo out there, it certainly isn't far behind. After getting highlights a few months ago, my hair hasn't been feeling thick and luxurious as usual and this shampoo puts this feeling back whenever I use it. Plus, it doesn't strip my hair of it's natural oil like some shampoo has a tendency to do. It is made with West African shea butter, natural source vitamin E, shine-boosting apple, and orange extracts plus naturally derived cleansers.

Most conditioners are a hit and miss with me. Therefore, I wasn't really expecting much from the Botanical Shine Conditioner ($7.50 - $14.50). I was in for a rude, yet lovely awakening when I first tried it on my hair. With 95% natural ingredients, it leaves my hair utterly soft and tangle free! The only thing is that it doesn't smell good as the shampoo, but that doesn't matter to me in the least since I'm far more concerned about the quality of a product.

Leila Lou captures the alluring scent of freshness and innocence. This fragrance is light, refreshing and easy to wear. At Rosie Jane they are dedicated to saving the environment. Her line is embraced by devotees such as Courtney Cox, Vanessa Hudgens, Kate Bosworth, Rachel Bilson, Poppy Montgomary, Jennifer Aniston, Calista Fockhart, and Sophia Coppola.

As the temperature plummets and the wind starts howling, our skin has a tendency to get affected by the coldness and dry air. Rosie Jane's Body Lotion will cure the winter skin blues with 100% essential oils and naturally hydrating ingredients. I'm honestly not a fan of every lotion out there, but I really like this one! It is highly moisturizing and doesn't give your skin that icky, icky, greasy feeling that some lotion is capable of doing. With notes of Pear Blossom, Fresh Cut Grass, and Tangerine; you will not be disappointed with this beautiful scent!

I can't think of a more beautiful and relaxing way to release a stressful day than to burn a beautifully scented candle, one that will evoke your senses and take you to another dimension. Rosie Jane's Candle ($37) has a remarkable scent that stays with you, the kind of scent that is hard to forget. Believe me, I have used many candles, but this one is one of my top favorites. This slow burning candle is made with 100% essential oils. It has notes of Pear Blossom, Fresh Cut Grass, and Tangerine. If you like candles or know someone who is into candles, I highly recommend this one!

I also received their Fragrance Roller Ball ($38), which is my favorite way to apply perfume. Their perfume is also one of my top favorite perfumes this season. The scent is strong, yet delightful. As time goes by, it does die down into a light and pleasant scent that is still noticeable instead of fading away completely. Jennifer Aniston is shamelessly hooked on this scent and I am too!

Mandarin Coconut Milk: The smell is delightful with a warm and inviting blend of mandarin and cedar wood oils with a subtle touch of amber and jasmine. The Anti Aging Mask Kit ($85) is the best facial mask I've tried out in a long time. I like that it is 100% natural, herbal, and that it doesn't contain preservatives or chemicals. Personally, I wanted to try out the Anti Acne Mask ($85) at first, but I'm glad that I was sent this instead. I was a bit apprehensive before using it since my skin isn't dry. Therefore, I was a bit worried that I would break out since I haven't had the best of luck with anti aging facial masks in the past. Gladly, that wasn't the case at all! It makes my skin feel very smooth, soft, and hydrated without making it feel icky and / or greasy.

The Anti Aging Mask Kit comes with convenient porcelain mixing bowl and scoop. Mix 2 scoops (1 tablespoon) of mask powder with enough plain yogurt or Aloe Vera gel or water to make a paste. I prefer using water, but I might try other variations sometime. Apply to cleansed face and neck, leave for 10 minutes for dry, 15 minutes for normal and 20 minutes for oily skin. Remove with damp towel and rinse with cool water. Follow with Vivoderm Intense Moisturizer ($40.80) for dry skin or Zinc Repairing Facial Cream ($55) for normal to oily skin. It is recommended that you use this mask 2 to 3 times a week.

I also received the Foot Moisturizer ($36), because my feet get dry easily. Keeping them moisturized is one of the most pampering feelings in the world! This product has a soothing combination of Cocoa Butter, Vitamin E, and Avocado Oil to make it a super moisturizing experience! Because it is extremely soothing and hydrating, it is also very effective for those who suffer from diabetes. Apply to feet and message. Use every day for best results. For added absorption, apply at night and cover with a sock to seal-in the healing effect.
